Data collection and surveys will be a great addition to my classroom. I aspire to be a special education teacher in the future and, while I am not sure which grade I will be teaching yet, I will be able to utilize this technology with students of all ages. A large portion of teaching students with special needs involves teaching them life skills so I could theoretically use this technology to teach my more advanced students how to take surveys. The survey aspect may not be as useful for teaching my younger students, but that is where data collection plays a roll. I will collect data on my students with Excel and organize it into tables to track the progress of my students of all ages.
In reviewing some of the blog posts of my fellow classmates, I have learned a great deal of information. Of the blogs that I reviewed, Alyssa DePury's post on Piktochart really drew my attention. In this post she speaks of a program that she used in the process of creating her first Independent Learning Project. With this program she designed an infographic for her hypothetical second grade class. I think this program will be of much use to me when I have a class of my own and need to develop an infographic of my own.
There are still a number of technological skills that I wish to achieve in the future. For example, I still wish to get slightly better at using Microsoft Excel. I am decently familiar with programs such as Microsoft Word and Power Point, but feel that my skills with Excel could be improved. It is a program that I do not have much experience with and feel that, with time, I could become quite skilled at using it. Additionally, I think that I would use it often in order to record the progress of my students in an organized fashion. I intend to increase my knowledge of this program by continuing to use and play around with it.
